Epoxy Injection in Construction, 2nd edition
A new, updated, second edition of Epoxy Injection in Construction is now available. In it John Trout presents the science as well as the art that assures the successful injection of faults in concrete. John covers an abundance of new material as well as the basics in a clear and logical manner. This book is of value to applicators, specifiers, and those responsible for quality control on injection projects.
This expanded 85 page edition includes: four additional chapters; updated information on refinements in technology, techniques, and chemistry; a fresh chapter on the role of the owner's representative on the injection project; and more than 100 photographs and illustrations.
The author is the founder of the Lily Corporation, a manufacturer and supplier of products used in injecting and dispensing two-component construction adhesives. His experience in epoxy injection and concrete restoration spans four decades. He is an internationally recognized expert in these fields.

Tips for Epoxy Injection: Proven Paths Towards Productivity and Quality
by John Trout
Although none of the following tips and methods are new, they've all been verified and found to be very rewarding. Perhaps one of the most important steps I'll discuss is the application of a seal, where a viscous epoxy is applied over the mouth of a crack so that resin can be injected under pressure into the crack through a series of parts. Other important tips I'll impart include injection and quality-control techniques that can help get the job done quickly and correctly. As with most things in life, some of these methods will require an initial investment of time and resources, but their use will produce benefits that far outweigh their initial costs. >> more
Cleaning
Cracks Before Injection: Solution -- or Part of the Problem?
by John
Trout
It is axiomatic in
the concrete repair industry that if you are going to use an epoxy
there has got to be a whole bunch of surface preparation or there will
be a failure -- big time! Ergo, if you are going to inject a crack
with an epoxy you had better think surface preparation.

Methods
of Payment for the Injection Contractor
by John Trout
On most construction
applications it is fairly simple to prepare a specification which assures
that the contractor is paid only for what he completes in a satisfactory
manner and leaves little room for misunderstandings. >> more
Quality
Control on the Injection Project
by John Trout
Deservedly, the resin
injection process has more than a few skeptics. Specifiers have often
been disappointed and embarrassed when assured results were not delivered.
Specifications insisting upon years of experience, factory training,
certifications, and licenses have not always helped. >> more
Resin
Injection: A Permanent Fix
by
John Trout
Epoxy injection has
the reputation of being a structural repair procedure, and it is. However
the vast majority of concrete crack injection applications (over 70%
by the author's reckoning) are structural preservation rather than
repair; that is, instances where resin is injected into faults in order
to keep good concrete good rather than to restore design strengths.
The sealing of cracks to protect exposed reinforcement is the most
common example. >> more
Road
Kill
by John Trout
For many years, reputable
epoxy injection contractors struggled to gain the acceptance of performance
(rather than procedural) specifications. Instead of being told how
to do their job, they wanted the quality of their work to be judged
by cores. >> more

Vacuum Assisted Pressure Injection vis-à-vis Unassisted Pressure
We much prefer to discuss our own technology rather than that of others, and that has been our policy and practice for over twenty years. But that has changed due to recent web-site claims by advocates of vacuum assisted pressure injection. They cite the benefits of vacuum assistance in the injection of ordinary cracks, and the dangers and limitations of high-pressure injection. >> more
